On August 21st, 2017, a total solar eclipse will stretch from the Pacific to the Atlantic, stretching across the entirety of the continental United States. The eclipse will begin around Newport, OR at 10:15 am (local time) and will end around Charleston, SC at 2:48 pm (local time). This means that the majority of the United States will be in school during the eclipse, with some schools even extending hours to avoid sending students home during the darkest period. This provides teachers with an invaluable opportunity to teach students about eclipses and get students excited about astronomy. Here are some resources to help you with that task!
